High School Marching & Concert Band
Normandy High School Band Program
Students can choose to participate in the Marching Band, Jazz Band or Concert Band — or all three. Normandy High School bands have an enduring legacy of excellence, and the recent growth of the program is due to this history and talent of the students and music staff. Students are versed in a wide range of music genres and are exposed to professionals in the industry who have conducted free music clinics and lessons. Band students have also participated in a variety of grand openings and special events throughout the region including the America's Birthday Party, National Blues Museum Grand Opening, and St. Louis Art Museum Winter Fest.
The Marching Band has also earned first and second place in the Annie Malone May Day Parade for the last three years. Students have also been selected to participate in the North County Big Band, Lindenwood Honors Band, and special Q&A session with music legend Wynton Marsalis.
The high school band is growing and to meet the need, the Collaborative has purchased new instruments for students. The band has also received generous donations from the St. Louis Community Foundation and Jazz St. Louis. The program will continue to grow with the success of the feeder programs (band and orchestra) in the Normandy EleMiddle (grade 1-8) schools.
